Coupled Electrostatic Traps

- Electron Transfer Dissociation (ETD) is a non-ergodic method.
- ETD leads to fast dissociation (fs timescale). Cleavage occurs before the available energy has been randomized over all the degrees of freedom in the ion.
- ETD gives far more backbone cleavages than CID due to its low specificity, and thus can be used to sequence larger peptides and proteins.
- PTMs are preserved.
- Simulations of trap perfomance show limits on ion beam conditions.
